Should I need to display the values in milliequivalent per liter in percentage? And how do I add symbols for 47 samples?
To plot data on a Piper diagram, the combined values of the three cationic data points (X, Y, Z) and the three anionic data points must each total 100 percent. If these sums do not equal 100 percent, you will need to normalize your data accordingly. If the data is not normalized, Grapher will automatically adjust the values during plotting to meet this requirement. For further assistance with your symbols, please feel free to contact us at support@goldensoftware.com with additional details about your specific needs. In the meantime, you may find the Grapher Help pages below to be useful references. - Piper Plot and Piper Class Scatter Plot | grapherhelp.goldensoftware.com/Graphs/Piper_Plot.htm - Plot Page | grapherhelp.goldensoftware.com/Graphs/Plot_Page_Piper_Plots.htm Thanks, Golden Software

Thank you for your question! Surfer is a powerful tool for visualizing subsurface data, and it can create detailed contour and 3D surface maps based on the data you provide. However, the accuracy of what is shown underground depends on the quality and type of data you input (e.g., geological surveys, borehole data, GPR data, etc.). While Surfer can effectively illustrate variations in the subsurface, it doesn't directly "detect" underground structures. Instead, it helps visualize the data collected from other sources to reveal trends or patterns in the subsurface. If you provide accurate data, Surfer can create clear representations of underground features.
When the data is added to the Grapher software worksheet for the Plot Piper diagram, as it changes the order of the cations and anions, it gives different diagrams. Why does that happen?
Hello, When generating a Piper plot in Grapher, the columns from the data file are assigned in the following order: Cation X, Cation Y, Cation Z, Anion X, Anion Y, Anion Z, and Class (if applicable). If your data is arranged differently or if columns are added, this will affect how Grapher automatically assigns them to these elements. To manually assign or change the desired columns to the graph variables, select the Anion or Cation ternary plot in the Object Manager, then specify the columns on the Plot tab in the Property Manager. If you have any other questions, please reach out to us at support@goldensoftware.com. You may find these Grapher Help pages useful to reference: - Piper Plot and Piper Class Scatter Plot | grapherhelp.goldensoftware.com/Graphs/Piper_Plot.htm - Plot Page | grapherhelp.goldensoftware.com/Graphs/Plot_Page_Piper_Plots.htm Thank you! Hi! This might be a silly question but it´s my first time plotting logs and trying to get a cross section. I see you are creating the cross section from previous data tables with the bottom and top depth for each layer. So did you do those tables manually? How would it be the procedure from scratch since plotting a line log for the first time to having those final tables? Do you just analize the line log and get the depth data manually and write it down on an excel sheet to generate your tables manually? or is there a way to mark specific points on the line log and import them into a table? Thank you so much!
Hi there, Thanks for your comment. All logs in Strater are table-based, meaning you must have the completed required tables for that log type before you can generate the log. Yes, typically that data is either entered in manually, or, the data was collected from some sort of data collection device and then organized into the proper table format for Strater. This could be done in something like Excel or directly in Strater via the New Table function. In addition to this video, it may be helpful to search the Strater Help (either online or within Strater by clicking the Home | Help | Contents command) for 'Creating and Editing a Line/Symbol Cross Section' to pull up a detailed explanation of creating a cross section like this. It may also be helpful to search the Help for 'Table Types' to learn more about the different table types in Strater and what each is used for. Best, Golden Software Support

Nice presentation, thanks a lot. I am going to purchase this software before that I need to know following points; 1) How do I create profile section like Cu Vs X, Cu Vs Y, Cu Vs arbitrary line from 3D volume of X Y Z & Copper. 2) Why VTK files created from Paraview software are not getting accepted in this software, showing error as unsupported VTK file. How to resolve this issue?
Greetings, Thanks for your comment! I'm unsure why a VTK from Paraview would not load correctly in Surfer. We've heard a few reports of this, though, and would like to investigate further. Please send us a copy of one of these VTK files to support@goldensoftware.com so our development team can take a closer look at the file. You could add an Image Slice to a 3D Grid to act as a profile. To do so, create a 3D View from your 3D Grid. Then, click Tools | Add to 3D Grid | Image Slice to create the Image Slice. You can adjust the orientation and position of the Image Slice using the Properties window. Best, Golden Software Support

How do I select specific objects within a map/group by name?
Hi, Thanks for contacting Golden Software. You need to use the StartEditing method before you can select an object in a group (i.e. composite object). Then you can refer to the object by name in the Item method. You cannot select a map layer. However, you can still refer to it by name and use any Shape or Layer object methods/properties to edit it. To create a cross section where one or more wells are not vertical you will first need to define the well trajectory in the collars table or in a survey table. Once the well path is defined, follow the instructions on this help page to display the borehole as deviated in your cross section: straterhelp.goldensoftware.com/#t=command%2FCrossSection%2FDisplaying_Deviated_Logs_on_a_Cross_Section.htm To create a cross section where the borehole elevation is displayed, follow the instructions in this article: support.goldensoftware.com/hc/en-us/articles/226500547-Hang-a-Strater-cross-section-on-a-marker-bed-or-set-the-reference-datum-to-mean-sea-level Thanks!
